Troubleshooting your download

Internet Explorer

  1. Click on the link at the bottom on this page.

  2. A dialog box like the one to the right should appear.

  3. Choose "Save this file to disk".

  4. You'll then be presented with a standard Windows dialog box, to enable you to choose where to save the file. It doesn't matter where you save it to (we suggest "Desktop"), so long as you are able to find it again after the download has completed!

  5. Choose your "Save" location, and press the "Save" button.

  6. The download should now commence.

  7. When it's finished the zip file will be available for you to install the Quotes program.

Netscape Navigator

  1. Click on the link at the bottom on this page.

  2. A dialog box like the one to the right will probably appear (you might alternatively get a smaller "Application type not recognised" dialog box. But the same procedure - though some of the wording is slightly different - applies).

  3. Choose "Save it to disk".

Troubleshooting your installation

To install the program you need a copy of a utility to unzip a file. Winzip is the most popular. You can download it from the Winzip website. These instructions assume that you have this kind of utility installed on your computer

  1. Create a new folder on your computer - probably on your "C" drive, and probably called "Quotes Program".

  2. Locate the TPMQuotes.zip file on your computer (it'll be where you saved it in the download process!).

  3. Double-click on the file. That will fire-up your unzipping program.

  4. Extract all the files to the folder you created in stage 1.

  5. There are eight files - Quotes.exe; Quotes.hlp; readme.txt; quotes.CNT; authorbase.txt; refbase.txt; quotesbase.txt & quotes.txt (note: depending on how you're computer is configured you might not be able to see the filename extensions - i.e., "exe", etc).

  6. To start up the Quotes program, simply double click on the "Quotes.exe" file (it's the one with books icon!).

  7. You may, of course, create a shortcut to the program on your desktop (e.g., right-click on the file, and choose Send To -> Desktop).
